How to find the right caregiver job on Caregiver Career Match

A step by step guide for caregivers, in the order that actually works: register, finish your profile, read a job card properly, filter for your life, turn those filters into an alert, and answer fast. Free, always.

Four moments from a caregiver day: helping someone walk with a cane, taking a blood pressure reading, sharing a cup of tea at a kitchen table, and writing up care notes on a tablet.

Most caregivers land on a job board, search once, and leave. That is the wrong order, and it is usually why the good shift goes to somebody else.

Here is what actually works on this site, in the order that works. The first pass takes about fifteen minutes; after that it is a few minutes a day.

Caregiver Career Match

Four steps, in this order

Step two is the one most people skip, and it is the one employers actually search.

  1. Register as a caregiverPick Candidate, not Employer. Nothing else on the site opens until this exists.2 minutes once, ever
  2. Finish your whole profileCertificates with their numbers, shifts, languages, skills. A half filled profile is invisible to search.10 minutes do it in one sitting
  3. Set one job alertFilter the jobs list first. Whatever you filtered becomes the alert, so filter properly, then save it.1 minute after you filter
  4. Apply, then answer fastEmployers can also message you first. A reply the same day is worth more than a better resume next week.Every day while you are looking

Free for caregivers. No fees, ever, and you never pay for a decision.

First, make an account and pick Candidate

Nothing below opens until you have an account. When you register you are asked to choose Candidate or Employer; pick Candidate, because Employer opens a completely different set of screens.

It is free, and it stays free. We never charge a caregiver for core access, and we never take a fee out of anybody’s placement.

Priority 1: finish your whole profile in one sitting

This is the step most people skip, and it is the one that decides everything else.

Employers here search by certification, skill, language and shift. If those boxes are empty on your profile, you do not appear in their results, however good you are at the job.

The form is under Create Your Profile and takes about ten minutes. These are the sections that carry the most weight:

  • When you can start. Give a real date. “Immediately” and “in six weeks” get you into two completely different shortlists.
  • The work you want. Your role, your shifts, and who you are happy working with. This is the part employers filter on hardest.
  • Certificates and licenses. Add the certificate and its number. A CNA with a number reads as verifiable; a CNA without one reads as a claim.
  • Languages. Worth more than most people think, especially in home care.
  • Skills. Pick what you actually do, not everything you have heard of.
  • In your own words. Three or four honest sentences. This is the only part of the profile that sounds like a person.

If you run out of time, save it as a draft and come back. Just do not leave it half done and live.

Add a photo if you have one. If you would rather not, pick one of the avatars; an empty circle looks unfinished, and unfinished is what you are trying to avoid.

Priority 2: learn to read a job card before you read a job title

Every card on the jobs page tells you most of what you need before you click.

How to read a job card on Caregiver Career Match

Read it in this order:

  1. The pay. We show a real range where the employer stated one, and we say plainly when they did not. “Pay not stated” is information too; it tells you a conversation is coming.
  2. The shift chip. Evenings, nights, weekends. If the shift does not fit your life, the rest does not matter.
  3. The “required” chips. CNA required, HHA required, and so on. These are hard gates, not preferences.
  4. Closing today, if it is there. Apply now or let it go.
  5. Full Time, Part Time, Contract or PRN, and whether it is on-site, hybrid or remote.

Only then read the title.

Priority 3: filter for your life, not for your job title

The filter panel sits on the right of the jobs page, and it is the difference between forty results you will not take and four you would start tomorrow.

A few things worth knowing:

  • City, ZIP or state has a radius, so you can search around where you live rather than inside one town.
  • Shift is the filter most caregivers forget and most regret forgetting.
  • Certification or license works both ways: use it to find jobs your credential already opens.
  • Where the job came from matters. “Posted on this site” means the employer is here and you apply here. “External job” means we found it elsewhere and it will send you off-site to apply.

When the list looks right, sort it. Pay, high to low is the honest first sort. Closing soonest is the one to use on a Friday.

Priority 4: save the alert, not the search

Once the filters give you a list you like, look for “Not the right job today?” underneath them and turn on the alert.

This is the useful part: the alert saves the filters you have set right now, so you are not asking for “caregiver jobs”, you are asking for “evening CNA work within twenty miles of this ZIP”. You pick daily, weekly, fortnightly or monthly, and you can stop it from any email.

For the jobs you like but are not ready for, use the bookmark icon on the card. They collect under Saved Jobs.

Priority 5: apply, then answer the same day

Two things happen on this site, not one.

You apply to jobs, and you can see everything you have sent in one place. Employers can also find you and message you first, which is the whole reason Priority 1 matters.

Either way, speed beats polish. A reply the same day is worth more than a better reply next week; care roles get filled by whoever was reachable.

What this costs you

Nothing. No fee to make a profile, no fee to apply, no fee if you get hired, and you never pay us for a decision. Employers pay to post and to search. You do not.

The short version

  • Register as a Candidate
  • Fill in the whole profile, certificate numbers included
  • Read pay and shift before you read the title
  • Filter by shift and distance, then sort by pay
  • Turn your filters into an alert
  • Apply, and answer messages the same day
